How to find a lawyer or an attorney in İstanbul / Turkey and how to verify it?

İf you are looking for a lawyer in İstanbul or generally in Turkey, you should search wisely. Because there is no official website for enough information in English and or any other languages other than Turkish (you will find English for simple tasks at most of bar associations). Every big city in Turkey has its own bar association, same of big cities have instead of one bar association two bar association. E.g. İstanbul and Ankara have each two bar associations.

İf you write on google search the name of the city and bar association (like İstanbul Barosu; Antalya Barosu etc.) you will find the official website of searched bar association. Ones you get the website of bar association of the city you can search for a lawyer and or an attorney. But it is still not so easy to find a lawyer for your area of expertise. Because neither our legal system nor our bar associations websites has not evolved yet, to allow attorney to clarify their area of expertise. But you can verify an information that you have about a lawyer in Turkey.

For example, if you want to verify, whether I am on the list of İstanbul Bar Association and have an correct address, you can write down my information on following website and find out (https://www.istanbulbarosu.org.tr/AttorneySearch.aspx ). İn that case you should write my last name as followed, otherwise it wouldn’t show it. İt would be enough to write my first name as Ercan and my last name as Yaşar (I recommend that you copy and paste it from here). Simpler would it be to write only my registration number 90490 and search for it. Through this way, you can verify any lawyer that you already contacted and want to work with.
