Dear Sir/Madam, With the greatest respect, I am reaching out to ask if you can assist with a recommendation or referral. I am a refugee from Afghanistan who has been granted asylum in Germany because of my extension worker for UNICEF and UNAMA as a human rights defender in my home country. My work involved investigating crimes against women and children that resulted in criminal convictions of individuals who are today active members of the Taliban. I come from a family of human rights activists who have worked for nearly two decades publicly to defend the rights of women and children. I am the only member of my family to have escaped Taliban captivity and fled the country. The remainder of my family remains hiding in the country and faces the constant daily risk of summary execution if their true identity were to be discovered by the Taliban. I have submitted a request to the German Federal Office in Kabul requesting approval for my family to be reunited with me in Germany due to the extraordinary risk my family faces under Taliban rule. My family reunification request is working through official legal immigration processes and is at a point where I need legal representation through an immigration attorney. With your extensive background and experience, I am asking if you can make a recommendation or refer an immigration attorney who would be inclined to provide services pro bono. I have not been able to secure representation for my family reunion case. I would be grateful if you would share the list of attorneys your organization recommends on a fee-for-representation basis. Attached are letters from UN Chief of Mission Fiona Frazier and Member of Parliament Thomas Heilmann that endorse my request and demonstrate the level of my work defending human rights in Afghanistan. My sister always speaks with tears eyes and a prisoner asking to find a way to bring them here.
